Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge is passionate about the Salvation Army's mission. She believes in the work and the communities who benefit from the organization. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge sit on the board of the Salvation Army of Greater New York Harlem Division where she is a strong and effective contributor and leader. She help steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting ethical and legal governance as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.
Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge is a mentor for the Salvation Army of Greater New York Youth Division. In addition, Captain Antonio Rosamilla of the Salvation Army of Greater New York invited Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge as a special guest speaker during the Camp-in-a-Box counselors meeting. It was an honor to share her personal story, give words of encouragement and express gratitude for the impact that they have made on each of the campers' lives. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge enjoyed listening to each counselor's story and their thoughts on professional career paths. She believes that a lifelong impact was made daily through their contribution. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge is grateful for the counselors and the Salvation Army of Greater New York. In addition, Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge was a special guest speaker for the Camp-in-a Box campers and partnered with the Back to School Campaign.

Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge has partnered with Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, where she serves as a Council Member. “The Madison Square Boys & Girls Club provides after-school and summer youth development programming to young people between the ages of 6-18 in under-resources neighborhoods in New York City.” As a Council Member, she dedicates her time and talents to positively impact the lives of over 5,000 New York City youth. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge is actively involved in raising awareness; serving as a Madison ambassador, direct contributor and attendee to fundraising events.
