THE MISS EARTH ORGANIZATION CROWNS YASMEEN GUMBS-BREAKENRIDGE AS MRS. NEW YORK EARTH USA 2019 IN LONG ISLAND NEW YORK

(New York, New York) On March 31, 2019, The Miss Earth Organization, New York Division crowned Mrs. Yasmeen Gumbs-Breakenridge of Long Island City, New York as Mrs. New York Earth USA 2019 at Adelphi University in Long Island, New York.
Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge will compete August 8-11, 2019 in Washington, District of Columbia for the title of Mrs. USA 2019, which is the national preliminary to Mrs. Earth International and Mrs. Eco. She will be competing in the following categories for judging: Community Service, Interview, Swimwear and Evening Wear.
About Mrs. Yasmeen Gumbs-Breakenridge:
Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge was born on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Island. At a young age, she relocated from St. Thomas to New York City with her mother and sister. Growing up in New York City, Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge developed the grit which contributed to the hardworking academic achiever and successful litigator she is today. Beating the odds, she attended college on a Division I Track & Field Scholarship. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge was a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Leadership recipient and Sunbelt Conference Track & FIELD finalist in the 100 meter dash.
She furthered her education by attending law school in Virginia. She was Who’s Who Among Law School Students. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge is a seasoned commercial litigator and has defended million dollar lawsuits against corporations in court and during mediation. She is a member of the New York State Bar and a 2016 American Bar Association Law School Division National Appellate Advocacy Competition Judge.
During her reign as Mrs. New York Earth USA 2019, Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge will continue her partnerships with New York Cares and the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, where she is a Madison Council Member. In addition to the partnerships mentioned above, she will build additional partnerships with the goal of reducing social inequalities, which results in health inequalities due to a lack of access to fresh food. Mrs. Gumbs-Breakenridge plans to work closely with local politicians, focusing on low income and working class neighborhoods to develop a plan to increase the development of natural resources.
